My name is Cynthia Kunze and I am a registered psychologist in Australia with over 15 years experience in psychological services, including private practice and treatment facilities for children, adolescents and adults. I also have extensive experience teaching psychology at universities in both the United States and Australia and have presented international papers at conferences all over the world. Currently, I work with clients at the private practice in Munich, Germany, as well as online.
As a psychologist, research and education are very important to me. I have conducted extensive research and made presentations exploring how popular media effects body image, self-esteem and the desire for physical transformation. Currently, I am conducting research on the benefits and limitations of using eTherapy technologies (such as phone, webcam, secure chat rooms and email) as a means of conducting therapy.
During my professional life, I have lived in the USA, Australia and Germany and have traveled extensively through North America, Central America, and Europe. As a native English speaking psychologist, I am able to offer clients, particularly the expatriate community, psychological services in English to help assist with the difficulties they might be experiencing.
Currently, I reside in Germany and my private practice is located in Munich. I see clients Monday-Thursdays at both my private practice and via phone, webcam or secure chat room. Most international insurances cover my services, as I am registered in Australia. I am covered under some German private insurance providers. However, I am unable to take public German health insurance. Please check with your provider directly, and if I can be of any assistance, do not hesitate to ask. If you would like to make a booking, please contact me through the Contact Form to the left or through our online bookings calendar here: http://www.appointment.com/psyshrink.
The foundation of my psychological training is in Humanistic Psychology. My philosophical framework is structured by Humanistic Theory (e.g., Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow, Sidney Jourard) and Poststructuralist Theory (e.g., Michel Foucault, Nikolas Rose, Judith Butler). Humanistic Theory influences my therapeutic style, while Poststructuralist Theory influences my analytical assessment and approach. I do use various cognitive behavioural therapeutic techniques, particularly for those individuals that I feel will benefit from them.

It is important that whenever you are seeking therapy, in person or on-line, that you are able to validate the credentials of the practitioner. Most credible and ethical psychologists, therapists and/or counsellors readily provide them for you. If they do not, it is probably in your best interest not to seek their services.
If you would like to validate my registration as a psychologist, please click here to get to the Australian Psychologist Registration Board. Please note: I have recently married and am in the process of changing all documents to my married name. My registration is under my maiden name 'Rankin'.
I am also a member with the following professional organizations and adhere to their ethical guidelines and regulations:
